Shipping

Hello everyone,

I had a quick question about shipping excess baggage. On our contract it says the school will allow up to €450 for extra baggage. I'm just curious, as I've never shipped excess baggage, how much this involves? Also, do we bring all our luggage that we want shipped with us to the airport, or is some of it shipped in advance of our arrival? I hope everyone is doing well!

  1. In my limited experience, having welcomed only one group of new teachers to BES, most of them brought excess baggage in the form of a couple of extra suitcases. One teacher, however, shipped books because of the weight involved. Airlines regulations have changed since last year, though, and many airlines are only allowing one checked bag for free on intercontinental flights. I will have our admin. office check.

  2. I had a question about baggage as well, the same on as Rod but also, what did everyone bring that was in excess baggage. I"m trying to sort out what to bring, what to ship. I wanted an idea of what to bring outside of clothes and everyday things.
    Thanks.

  3. Hard to answer as it depends on who you are and what your priorities are. Keep in mind that the apartments are furnished. You should probably plan on bringing a set of sheets and a towel just in case. Other than that it is up to you. Some teachers bring favorite teaching materials. Others need their collection of CDs and DVDs for sustenance.

  4. We should be sending you airline tickets in the very near future. I will ask Paola to enquire about excess baggage charges for the airline we choose for your trip.
